Soldier for Life - Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP)

Career Announcements buttonAs of 26 June 2014, the Chief of Staff of The Army changed the name of the Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP) to the Soldier for Life - Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP).  The intent is to provide Soldiers with the opportunity to participate and integrate Soldier Life Cycle (SLC) throughout their career, thereby increasing their opportunity in successfully moving from military to civilian life.  Transition SLC is scheduled for implementation effective 1 October dhr42014.  Upon implementation of the SLC, Soldiers will complete certain Career Readiness Standards (CRS) during the three phases of the SLC: (1) Initial Phase, 0-1 year; (2) Service Phase, 1+ years; and (3) Transition Phase, 12-18 months prior to transition.  Transition Services will continue as usual, which is to prepare Soldiers for transition (Career Readiness Standards, CRS and Career Skills Program) as well as connect Soldiers with meaningful employment and education opportunities (SFL, business/industry, and education/healthcare).

At the TAP Center, staff personnel evaluate clients’ needs and provide assistance with individualized transition plans. A Preseparation packet contains guidebooks which impart valuable information on transition services aSFL-TAP ICE buttonnd benefits.
